The NGO “SETEM Rioja” promotes a set of actions to spread and raise awareness among the population about values such as solidarity and equality, to achieve the goals set by the United Nations Agenda 2030.
The designer Mireya Rioja of ARMATTA® and a small Thai textile family company, made sportswear that shows that it is possible to produce with sustainability, without labor abuses and supporting female talent.
The NGO “SETEM Rioja” has proposed among its objectives of this new course to carry out an important work of raising awareness and dissemination of the Sustainable Development Objectives (SDO), marked by the Agenda 2030 of the United Nations. The 17 new objectives seek to combine the development of society with respect for people and the environment, eradicating poverty, inequality, social injustice and unsustainable exploitation of the resources of our planet.
To this end, in collaboration with the Volleyball Federation of La Rioja, the Delhuyar Logroño Sports Club and the nationally recognized volleyball female team, have started a new campaign that seeks to raise awareness and commitment to citizens with these values of sustainability.
The first of these actions has been to promote and to demonstrate that it is possible to carry out good practices in the acquisition of sportswear. For this, Mireya Rioja Armatta, a Bolivian-born designer based in Logroño (Spain) and Thai textile family companies, were in charge of designing and making sportswear for the volleyball female players who support the action, applying sustainability criteria, without labor abuses and supporting female talent
As a reinforcement to this action, SETEM Rioja will expose slogans of the Sustainable Development Objectives through panels, posters, leaflets, circulars and messages on the T-shirts of the female players of the C.D. Delhuyar of Logroño, as well as to carry out sports actions like campus and tournaments in favor of development cooperation projects.
The project was born with the intention of being replicated by the maximum of organizations and companies both in La Rioja and Spain, especially among entities and sports federations, sponsors and ONG´s.
